Construction Dust Partnership
Construction workers are at significant risk from breathing in dust. This can lead to permanent disability and early death. In response, the industry has launched the Construction Dust Partnership. This brings together key stakeholders across the construction industry with representation from manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, designers, training bodies and workers. It is supported by the Health and Safety Executive. Currently, over 500 construction workers are believed to die each year as a result of exposure to silica dust alone. However, the long latency of diseases associated with construction dust exposure means that managing and controlling this risk is often misunderstood or overlooked until it is too late.
