Luke Hall, MP, opens Bristol Training Centre for Building Safety Group
The Building Safety Group has opened a new Bristol based Training Centre for people working in the building industry. Luke Hall MP, Member of Parliament for Thornbury and Yate, was on hand to officially open the new premises in Rudgeway.
The new building and on-site facilities have been developed across 5000 sq ft to provide a comprehensive range of health, safety and environmental courses for construction workers. Special focus will be directed towards running a mental health and general well-being programme to support people working in the building trade. The move follows high profile research conducted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) which revealed that the construction industry has reported more suicides than any other profession, with 1409 men and 10 women committing suicide in the five years to 2015.
BSG will also provide ‘Working at height’ training on its premises using a custom-made scaffolding operation. In addition, confined space courses will be delivered using specialist apparatus set up by our qualified experts.

Luke Hall, MP, who opened BSG’s new centre commented: “As MP for Thornbury and Yate, I am of course very pleased to open the Building Safety Group’s new Training Centre here in Rudgeway. It is very encouraging to see ‘not for profit’ organisations like BSG working so hard to raise awareness about the dangers faced by people working in the building industry every day.” Luke added: “I am sure the new facility will go a long way to helping companies protect their workers from harm.”
Steve Beckwith, BSG’s Training Manager also commented: “We are naturally delighted to be opening our new training centre. BSG is committed to training construction workers to the highest standards possible, which is why we have invested heavily in our new facility. By significantly increasing our on-site footprint we will be able to train more people, whilst encouraging and developing their skills to reduce health and safety risk.”
BSG’s new centre is expected to train over 10,000 construction employees every year. BSG is an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) as recognised by the CITB.
