No impact on construction industry following legislation change for self-employed
The Löfstedt Review of the UK’s Health and Safety legislation, carried out in 2011 at the request of the government, recommended that the self-employed person whose work activities pose no potential risk of harm to others should be exempt from health and safety law. CDM 2015 – six month grace period revealed. BSG comment in Construction Manager
The HSE has clarified the “transitional arrangements” for implementing CDM 2015 next year, telling participants at an opening meeting of the Construction Industry Advisory Committee on 19 November that there would be a six-month “grace period” between April and October 2015. Highlights of results from latest HSE blitz
HSE Inspectors visited 1748 ‘targeted’ refurbishment sites during a 4 week period that commenced on 22nd October. The results are published on the HSE website but these are the headline figures; 1748 sites inspected 2180 contractors inspected Poor standards were found on 40% of these sites (691 sites) 35% of the issues were health related
